Checked Health
Aotearoa New Zealand · National guidelines

Don't leave your health to chance.

New Zealand already has clear, evidence-based guidance on what should be checked for someone your age, sex, ethnicity and history. The problem isn't that nobody knows. It's that your GP sees you for the thing you booked about — and nobody is working through everything else.

This does. Fifteen questions, about five minutes — and you'll get your first real answer after the first three.

UP TO DATE GAP NOT YET CHECKED

The evidence already exists

There is national guidance on screening, prevention and risk for every stage of life. It is published, it is specific, and most of it never gets applied to any one person. This applies it to you.

Prevention, not symptoms

This is deliberately not a symptom checker. It looks at long-term risk and what you are due for — the things that get missed precisely because nothing is wrong yet. If you have symptoms now, that is a conversation for your GP, and we will say so.

Nothing left to chance

Fifteen areas, every one checked. Heart, metabolic, cancer screening, immunisation, bone health, sleep, alcohol, activity, family history and more — not because you raised them, but because the guidelines say they apply to someone like you.

✓

Every finding names its source. Screening findings come from New Zealand's national programmes — bowel, breast, cervical and immunisation. The rest comes from published New Zealand general practice guidance. Nothing in your report is our opinion, and you can check any of it yourself. Reviews are carried out by clinicians registered in New Zealand and signed with their name and registration number.

About Checked Health

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand has a great deal of evidence about what should be checked, and when, for someone at each stage of life. Screening programmes, risk assessment thresholds, immunisation schedules, symptoms that warrant investigation. It is published, it is specific, and it is not controversial.

The gap is not knowledge. The gap is that nobody applies it to you.

Your GP sees you for the reason you booked. That is how a fifteen-minute appointment necessarily works, and it is not their fault. But it means the visit is shaped by what you walked in with, not by what the evidence says someone with your age, sex, ethnicity and family history should have looked at. If your GP had an unhurried hour, they would work through the whole picture. Almost nobody gets that hour.

Checked Health does that one job. It takes what is already known, and checks it against you.

What it is built on

Every finding in your report names its source on the page, so you can check it yourself rather than take our word for it.

Screening findings come from New Zealand's national programmes — the National Bowel Screening Programme, BreastScreen Aotearoa, the National Cervical Screening Programme and the National Immunisation Schedule. Other findings come from published New Zealand general practice guidance, including the Ministry of Health's cardiovascular risk consensus statement and bpacnz. Where we use a screening questionnaire, it is a validated one used in New Zealand primary care.

Checked Health is a New Zealand company, based in Auckland and built by a New Zealand-trained doctor. Reviews are carried out by clinicians registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand or the Nursing Council of New Zealand, and every review is signed with the reviewer's name and registration number, which you can verify on the public register.

What we are, and what we are not

We are a prevention check. We compare your circumstances against published New Zealand screening criteria and general practice guidance, so you know what you are due for and where your long-term risk sits — the things that get missed precisely because nothing is wrong yet.

We are not a symptom checker, a diagnosis, a replacement for your GP, or an emergency service. We do not assess symptoms, we do not prescribe, and we do not tell you what is wrong with you. If something is bothering you now, that is exactly what your GP is for, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

Guidelines change

Screening ages move, and thresholds get revised. Bowel screening dropped to 58 last year and drops again to 56 this September. We review ours against current guidance, and each report is dated so you know what it was checked against.

How it works

THREE STEPS

1. The assessment

Around fifteen core questions, taking about five minutes. After the first three we already show you what New Zealand guidelines say applies to someone with your age, sex and ethnicity — you get something back before we ask for anything more. What you are asked after that depends on your answers, so a 42-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman see almost entirely different questions. At the end you can stop and take your report, or keep going through the remaining areas for a fuller picture.

2. Your free report

Every finding is set out the same way: what the guideline says, what you told us, and where that leaves a gap. Nothing is scored, nothing is diagnosed. You can print it and take it with you.

3. A doctor's review, if you want one

The free report tells you what applies to someone with your profile. A review tells you what your particular combination means — what to deal with first, exactly what to ask your GP for, and whether anything needs attention sooner than routine. It is written by a registered New Zealand clinician and signed with their name.

Your answers

You do not need an account to complete the assessment. We only ask for an email address if you want your report sent to you. See our privacy statement for what we store and how to have it deleted.

Privacy statement

LAST UPDATED 3 AUGUST 2026

Checked Health collects health information about you. We take that seriously. This statement explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to have it removed. It is written to meet our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.

What we collect

We do not ask for your name, date of birth, NHI number or address to complete the free assessment.

Why we collect it

Who can see it

Your assessment is seen by you. If you purchase a review, it is also seen by the registered New Zealand clinician who reviews it, and by our clinical governance lead. It is not sold, and it is not shared with insurers, employers or advertisers.

Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics and the Meta advertising pixel to understand how people find and use the site. These tools may set cookies and record that you visited and which pages you saw. They do not receive your assessment answers. You can block them with your browser settings or an ad blocker without affecting the assessment.

Where it is stored

Your information is stored on secure servers, which may be located outside New Zealand. Where information is held overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable privacy protections apply.

How long we keep it

Where a clinician has reviewed your assessment, it becomes a health record and we are required to retain it for a minimum of ten years. Free assessments that are not reviewed are retained for no longer than we need them.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Email privacy@checkedhealth.co.nz and we will respond within twenty working days.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Terms of use

What this service is

Checked Health provides an information service that compares your answers against published New Zealand screening criteria and general practice guidance. The free report is information, not medical advice, and it does not create a clinician–patient relationship.

Paid reviews

Where you purchase a clinician review, a registered New Zealand health practitioner reviews your assessment and provides written comments. This is a health service, and your rights under the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights apply.

Your responsibilities

Limits

Guidelines change, and no assessment of this kind can identify everything. A report showing no gaps does not mean you have no health problems. If you feel unwell, see a doctor regardless of what this report says.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights.

Refunds

If we cannot complete your review, or you are not satisfied with it, contact us at hello@checkedhealth.co.nz and we will refund you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law.

Medical disclaimer

PLEASE READ

Checked Health does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

The free report tells you what published New Zealand guidelines say applies to someone with your age, sex, ethnicity and history. It does not tell you what is wrong with you, and it cannot take account of everything a doctor would notice by examining you.

This is not an emergency service

We do not monitor assessments in real time. If you are unwell now:

Do not delay care

Never delay seeking medical advice, or disregard advice you have been given, because of something in this report. If your report suggests something needs attention, act on it. If it suggests nothing does, but you feel unwell, still see a doctor.

A normal report is not a clean bill of health

Screening criteria are designed for people without symptoms. If you have symptoms, they need assessing at any age, whatever your screening status.
